2025 Food & Water Watch Anti-Harassment Virtual Event Policy

Our non-profit organization is committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment for all participants in our virtual meetings and events. This policy outlines the procedures for addressing disruptive behavior and harassment to ensure a positive experience for everyone.

This policy applies to all participants in virtual meetings and events organized by Food & Water Watch, including staff, members, volunteers, donors, and the general public.

Policy
  1. Respectful Behavior: All participants are expected to engage in respectful and relevant discussions during virtual meetings. Disruptive behavior, harassment, and off-topic comments will not be tolerated.
  1. Warning: Any participant displaying disruptive behavior or making off-topic comments will receive an initial warning from a meeting or event facilitator, clearly stating the consequences of further disruptions.
  1. Muting and Removal: If the disruptive behavior continues, the participant may be removed from the virtual meeting or event.
  1. Post-Meeting Actions: Participants who have been removed from a virtual meeting or event due to disruptive behavior may be suspended from attending future meetings.

The disruptive participant may be removed from distribution lists for future meetings and events, and other Food & Water Watch communications.
  1. Donations: In cases where a disruptive participant is also a donor, the organization reserves the right to reject their monetary contributions if the behavior is deemed harmful to the organization’s values and mission.
  1. Reporting: Participants who experience or witness harassment or disruptive behavior during virtual meetings are encouraged to report the incident to the organization’s designated event moderator.
  1. Review and Adjustment: This policy will be reviewed periodically and adjusted as needed to ensure its effectiveness in maintaining a respectful virtual meeting and event environment.
